- 2 cans 5 oz tuna in water, drained
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 8 slices of sandwich bread preferably sourdough or whole wheat
- 8 slices cheddar cheese or your favorite
- 4 tablespoons butter for grilling
- Salt and pepper to taste
Make the tuna salad: In a bowl, mix drained tuna, mayo, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and onion. Season with salt and pepper.
Prepare bread and cheese: Lay out the bread slices and place one slice of cheese on each.
Assemble sandwiches: Spread the tuna mixture onto four slices of bread and top with the remaining bread slices, cheese side facing inward.
Grill the melts: Heat the skillet over medium heat. Butter the outside of each sandwich and grill for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
Serve hot: Slice in half and enjoy the delicious, cheesy goodness.
