Ingredients
  

For the Beef:

  • 1 ½ lbs flank steak sliced thin
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda optional, for tenderness

For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Prep the beef: Toss steak with cornstarch and baking soda. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Mix the sauce: Whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, broth, garlic, ginger, hoisin, and sesame oil in a bowl.
  • Assemble the slow cooker: Place beef in the slow cooker. Pour sauce over the top.
  • Cook low and slow: Set to low for 4 hours.
  • Add the broccoli: Toss in broccoli during the last 30 minutes.
  • Thicken the sauce: Stir in cornstarch slurry. Let it cook until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve it up: Plate over rice, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and enjoy.
