For the Apple Filling:
- 4 large apples peeled, sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp arrowroot powder or tapioca starch
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
For the Crisp Topping:
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup coconut oil melted
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease your baking dish.
In a bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, arrowroot, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup.
Pour apple mixture into the baking dish and spread evenly.
In another bowl, combine almond flour, nuts, coconut, coconut oil, syrup, cinnamon, and salt.
Stir topping until crumbly and well mixed—don’t overthink it.
Sprinkle topping over apples like you’re blessing them.
Bake for 35 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Cool slightly before serving (unless you enjoy burning your mouth in the name of excitement).
