Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz king oyster mushrooms or 1 cup seitan strips
  • 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Prep the Base:
  • Slice mushrooms into thin strips or prepare seitan similarly for perfect chew.
  • Make Marinade:
  • Mix tamari, liquid smoke, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper.
  • Marinate:
  • Toss strips in marinade, cover, refrigerate 1 hour to soak in the sass.
  • Dehydrate or Bake:
  • Lay pieces on dehydrator trays or baking sheet. Dehydrate at 135°F for 4 hours or bake at lowest oven temp until dry and chewy.
  • Cool and Store:
  • Let cool completely, then store in airtight container. Snack anytime.
