Ingredients
  

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda for tenderness

For the Hoisin Sauce:

  • ¼ cup hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds optional

Instructions
 

  • Marinate the beef: Toss steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and baking soda. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • Make the sauce: Whisk together hoisin, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic.
  • Blanch the broccoli: Boil for 1 minute, then rinse under cold water.
  • Sear the beef: Heat oil in a wok. Cook beef for 2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the sauce: Pour hoisin mixture into the pan. Simmer for 1 minute.
  • Combine everything: Add beef and broccoli to the pan. Stir to coat.
  • Thicken the sauce: Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until glossy.
  • Serve hot: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and enjoy with rice.
