  • Black beans — 1½ cups mashed
  • Cooked quinoa — 1 cup
  • Breadcrumbs — ½ cup
  • Olive oil — 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce — 2 tablespoons
  • Smoked paprika — 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder — 1 teaspoon
  • Salt — ½ teaspoon
  • Black pepper — ¼ teaspoon
  • Tempeh strips — 8 slices
  • Maple syrup — 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns — 4
  • Lettuce — 4 leaves
  • Tomato — 1 large sliced

Instructions
 

  • Combine black beans (1½ cups) and quinoa (1 cup) in a bowl.
  • Mash mixture until combined.
  • Add breadcrumbs (½ cup) and soy sauce (1 tablespoon).
  • Stir in smoked paprika (1 teaspoon) and garlic powder (1 teaspoon).
  • Season with salt and black pepper.
  • Form mixture into 4 patties.
  • Heat olive oil (1 tablespoon) in a skillet and cook patties 6–7 minutes per side.
  • Cook tempeh strips (8 slices) with soy sauce (1 tablespoon) and maple syrup (1 tablespoon) for 4 minutes.
  • Assemble burgers with buns, patties, tempeh bacon, lettuce, and tomato.
