For the Beef:
- 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon baking soda for tenderness
For the Sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon ginger grated
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
Marinate the beef: Mix steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and baking soda. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Make the sauce: Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, and rice vinegar.
Blanch the broccoli: Boil for 1 minute, then drain and rinse under cold water.
Cook the beef: Heat oil in a wok. Sear beef for 2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Sauté aromatics: In the same pan, heat oil. Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes for 30 seconds.
Combine everything: Return beef to the pan. Add broccoli and sauce. Stir well.
Thicken the sauce: Pour in cornstarch slurry and stir until glossy.
