  • 4 slices of American cheese or your preferred type
  • 2 beef patties about 4 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon butter for grilling the bread

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the grilled cheese:
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place a slice of American cheese on the unbuttered side of two of the bread slices.
  • Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat. Grill each sandwich by placing the buttered side of the bread down in the pan.
  • Grill until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Set aside.
  • Cook the burger patty:
  • In the same pan, cook the beef patties over medium-high heat. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for a medium patty, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Assemble the Grilled Cheese Burger:
  • Place one grilled cheese sandwich on a plate. Top it with the burger patty.
  • Add lettuce, tomato, and onions if desired, then place the second grilled cheese sandwich on top.
  • Serve:
  • Cut the burger in half if desired, and serve with your favorite side dish, such as fries or a salad.
