A vegan baked BBQ chicken using plant-based protein, smothered in smoky, sweet, and tangy barbecue sauce, baked to caramelized perfection.

- 2 cups seitan or extra-firm tofu pressed and sliced
- ½ cup vegan barbecue sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp chili powder optional, for kick
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease baking dish.
In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, pepper, and vinegar.
Coat seitan or tofu slices evenly in the sauce.
Arrange pieces in baking dish; pour remaining sauce on top.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway for caramelized edges.
Garnish with parsley and serve hot with vegan sides.
